In 2010, each of the area's hospitals in Akron Children’s Hospital, Akron General Health System and Summa Health System took part in a process to produce a single community health assessment, the health systems hope to set the stage for continued collaboration throughout the greater community to address issues and opportunities in Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne Counties.  It provides a consensus on needs as a foundation to establish interventions, solutions and collective action to reduce the prevalence of key health indicators. It also provides critical information upon which to make effective resource and program investments and offers a framework for updating data and measuring outcomes.
